This is a photo blog post...that will not feature a photo. To prove a point: Sometimes - the photo you don’t take is the one that matters most.Read More
Well...I just spent a month working on the revamping of this site. And if I wasn't so exhausted by computers - I'd write a ton more about the process. Because it was surprisingly exciting and illuminating...and frustrating.
I will write about it. In time.
BUT - for now...I want to explore a way to use this blog. I shoot a ton of things - and not ALL of what I shoot is in the realm of my "brand"...I'm mostly hired (and am marketing myself) for portraiture type work. But I shoot everything. So - I think I may just use this here newfangled bloggy thing-a-ma-jig to showcase some of my favorite work that isn't on the site. I'll use it for personal projects and musings and meanderings (I'm full of them) I'll use it to point out my cool friends doing cool things...And - mostly - I'll use it to build community. One of my favorite things about being an artist is the people your work can connect you to.
SO - in that vein - this is my first batch of images. Just "things"...Things that were beautiful and grabbed my attention. AND - the first one reminded me of connecting with someone through art. I shot this down in a cemetery in New Orleans after Katrina. And a client of mine saw it - loved it - and asked if he could use it as a reference for a tattoo! I love that. Someone lived. Their death resulted in an artist creating a sculpture to mourn their passing. I took a picture of that sculpture in that space with the spirit of that soul enshrined in those walls. And a man in Chicago now wears it on his body in ink buried beneath his skin. The cycle of human connection and influence doesn't get more fascinating and poetic than that.
A lovely way to start. Here we go...
